. new mexico, joseph. hello. caller: this is a perfect segue, the chart she was just showing. obviously new mexico, we have lost a whole industry and construction. which means, that is a lot of entry-level positions, especially coming out of high school. i see so many kids, 19, 20, 21 that are coming out of high school, they cannot even get a part-time job and they are homeless. if we had a construction industry, we had to switch service, instead of new home construction, to stay in business, we had to move into a grudge just to do our work in a storage unit. host: do you own your own home? guest: i do. my mortgage is very low. it is $60,000 or so. that is what i go on it. it started out at maybe $100,000. host: thank you. guest: that is very indicative of the situation. even the we see signs of a rebound in housing, the construction industry is still getting its foot back on the ground. you are seeing younger workers suffer any long-term consequences of what is happening in the economy. even if we do recover in terms of gdp and construction, there are consequences that will continue to

ivie and his two fellow border patrol agents shot at six miles north of the u.s.-mexico line. ivie was killed the other two wounded. this is well-known for drug smuggling going on. they were responding to a tripped motion detector early tuesday morning when someone started shooting at them. they say the drug smugglers have the upper hand. >> they have an advantage in many cases, they are there, we are entering an area and they can easily ambush or flank our movements and they flee. >> agent ivie's body was transported to a local funeral home in arizona. an honor guard will stand watch over his body until burial. >> we just stood here in silence, you know, trying to show our respects and give him the respect that he d deserved. >> pay our respects. let the family know we care. >> i'm a little shaky, i'm emotional over this. it really did not need to happen. >> reporter: agent nicholas ivie was only 30 years old. he joined the force in 2008. he leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. as we learn more about this case we'll pass it along. back to you. jenna: rick, thank you. jon:

barrier. cnn's brian todd is in rose wwe, new mexico for the supersonic event. he has a preview for us. >> reporter: zoraida, john, the moment is just about at hand. we're about to find out if felix baumgartner can break this record. he's going to try to break the speed record for a human traveling outside a space vehicle. no one has ever broken the sound barrier, 690 miles an hour in just a suiting with helmet and parachute. he'll be try to do that today. here is what we have going here. this is the balloon that will take him up to the edge of space. it's called a high altitude balloon. that's a diagram of it there. the balloon is ten times thinner than a plastic bag, yet incredibly strong. this is the atechnology involve here. it will take about three hours to get to his starting point. you see some of the own components here. what is key is if any of the suit gets breached at those high a altitudes, about 30 sections after his jump will be the most hostile. if anything about the suit gets breached, he could freeze because of the severe temperatures there. it gets about 70 degrees be

.s. and mexico. we're talking about tomatoes and maybe sour grapes as well. the it's subject of our deep dive today. last week, the obama administration announced it favored canceling a 16-year-old $3.5 billion tomato trade deal with mexico. the deal encourages imports and has kept tomato prices low. but florida growers say they're so low they can't catch up. the numbers show mexican tomato sales have quadruple since 2000 while florida has seen its cut shrink dramatically. after a flurry of letters from lawmakers, the commerce department decided to repd the trade agreement be scrapped. mexico growers were stunned, upset they hadn't been granted a meeting until after the decision. why did the decision get rushed? presidential politic, the influence of those florida growers might have played just a small role. michael isakoff is nbc's national investigative correspondent. it's an election year and hearing about issues like this, oh, favoritism of this front for florida. favoritism on that front for ohio. it shouldn't come as a shock and yet, we see it play out every year. four years, excuse me.
